That Blogger Made Me Buy It!

that blogger made me buy it!

One of the perils of blogging (and reading lots of blogs in general) is you end up discovering all of these brands & products you never knew you wanted & at the click of a link, you're down the rabbit hole of "must. have. all. the. things".  If you're lucky, you end up finding products that you not only love, but want to tell everybody else about too via your blog or social media...and thus the cycle of enabling continues.

So in the spirit of this post (and because I'd like to out my enablers), here's what I've been persuaded to purchase & whose fault it is for those purchases:

enabled blogging purchases

From top middle, going clockwise-ish:

Typo full-size tripod - Beth, I have you to thank for this. Even though this tripod is waaaaaaaaay too short for my height (it's a good 70cm shorter than I am), I'm grateful regardless. It allows me to take fashion photos, as well as shoot my NOTD & nail swatch posts without having to awkwardly balance my phone in my right hand whilst juggling my left hand being wrapped around a polish. Been there, done that, don't wanna again!

My ever-growing nail polish stash (Essie's Coconut Cove, Zoya's Serenity, Kester Black's Blue Raspberry + Poshé top coat featured here) - above is just a sample of my stash because there are too many polishes & too many nail bloggers to blame here; but I'll mostly blame Emily from Casual Contrast, the now-retired Kellie Gonzo + Karen (aka ManiGeek) of Beautygeeks. I'll also blame Kat from Kitsch Snitch for putting me onto Kester Black + Nalini from The Made Up Maiden for making me lust after that Poshé top coat for years.

St Frock clothes (Chasing Kate Vanessa Polka Dot skirt featured here) - I shouldn't really blame Sarah from More Than Adored for this because it was ages between the moment she first mentioned them & the moment I clicked "add to cart"; but seeing as she brought the company to my attention, I will blame her for it.

Bhave hair products - too many bloggers & reviewers to blame here.

R&Co hair products - the ladies of The Beauty Department, I blame you for this.

FRANKiE4 sneakers - thank you to Nikki & Sonia for featuring this Aussie brand of footwear on their blogs because I've found my foot saviours! My black reptile JENNi's saw the world with me last year & came home looking a bit battered, but at least now I've broken them in to the point where they are fairly comfortable (although methinks I'll go up a size next time as my 10's are just slightly too small length-wise). Now I want a pair in tin gold + a whole bunch of other FRANKiE4 shoes, including the boots I mentioned in the last Lust List post.

Sussan ponte leggings - again, Nikki is to blame for convincing me that I should buy a pair for travelling purposes. They totally worked a treat whilst I was away & I even dared to wear them out in the street (albeit when I first landed in both New York & Honolulu because I simply couldn't be bothered getting changed). Even my Mum commented on how soft they are. I'm hoping to team them with a longline knit/tunic & get some wear out of them this winter.

The Wet Brush - the blame for this goes fairly & squarely on Kat from Kitsch Snitch's shoulders. If it weren't for her review of this about 2 years ago, I'd never have bought one. Also wouldn't have found one of my best beauty discoveries of 2016 either. (Yes, that's about how long it took for me to purchase one!)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, Too Faced Hangover Primer + Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel - I can't quite remember who told me I ought to buy those things, but I recall seeing them over at The Beauty Collection + shiwashful. often, so I'll blame Ash & Tasha for those purchases.

Essano Gentle Facial Cleansing Micellar Water (not pictured because I forgot to photograph it, oops) - Kats from Kat's Colourings + Rebecca from Beauty Wanderer are to blame for what was one of my favourite beauty discoveries of 2016. If you haven't tried this ladies, then what are you waiting for?

Just going to let you know that this will be the last post for a short while. I've decided not to post over the Easter period (meaning no post tomorrow or Easter Monday), but I will be back with a brand spanking new post on Friday 21st.

Also going to let you know that the polka dot skirt featured in this post is available again for purchase! ATM it's pre-order only, but if you like it get in whilst stocks last! I wear a size 10 & would suggest that if you're in between sizes, size up as the elasticated waist doesn't have a huge amount of stretch in it.

P.P.S I've added this post to the Monday Makeup Madness partay over at Fabulous & Fun Life.

  2. OMG I need that tripod! *runs to Typo*. Also I just recently watched a Kitsch Snitch YT video where she's wearing the most gorgeous blue Kester Black polish (it must be this blue raspberry one?) - I think I need it too! Love this post Shell :)

    1. The larger size tripod I have isn't available anymore, but they do have a smaller sized one available in the Traveller Selfie Kit. I also bought a Bluetooth remote to go with the tripod, but didn't mention it in the post. (If you ever wanted to know why I hide one of my hands in my fashion shots, it's because I'm trying to conceal that remote!)

RE: The blue nail polish - it's either Blue Raspberry or Monarch. More than likely it's Monarch since I'm sure Kat owns it. Having seen it in person, it's gorgeouus & I definitely want it for myself. One of these days...

    1. The tripod comes in handy, but it depends largely on what you're using it for. Like I said, for me it comes in very handy for NOTD's (because I shoot them outside mostly) & for fashion shots. Yep, I already knew bhave was amazing before I started using them again!

  4. What a great post! I too am constantly bring enabled by all the lovely bloggers whose blogs I read. My latest buy is a black top from Nikki's A/W shop. I appreciate and trust the recommendations of the bloggers I regularly follow. They take the hard work out of shopping -lol!

    1. Nikki is responsible for me wanting all the FRANKiE4 things! (Not quite, but almost.) I too appreciate & trust other bloggers recommendations, as long as I follow them regularly - like you I think it takes the hard work out of shopping, but sometimes I like having a browse & discovering something that takes my fancy.

    1. From memory mine was about $40 I think, which is probably on the exxy side but nevertheless I wanted & needed it. I too was doing the balancing act before I bought mine, now I know the grass is greener on the other side!

  6. Hahaha I am always happy to enable! Tripods are an absolute necessity for bloggers though. Makes it a lot easier. I have another small one with wrappable magnetic legs that is awesome and fits easily in the handbag!

    1. I agree - I think I'd be a bit lost without mine now. Is the smaller one also from Typo?

  7. I might be the only one who heard about the wet brush not that long time ago. I love my Tangle Teezers, but I think it's time to buy a new one. But lately I've been thinking about the wet brush as well. Not sure how I will decide now, haha.

    1. The Wet Brush has a handle, if that helps you. I find those Tangle Teezer type brushes difficult to hold in my hand + they're a bit tough on my hair (or at least the one I own is - I got it with one of my curling wands).
